Back to our home in London!

Back to London

We all traveled to London as Chad had work again there.  The weather was quite nice from Wednesday to Saturday.  It was in the upper 30s or 40s and sunny.  We enjoyed the weather walking around the city. It was like being back home because the area is familiar and we know our way around quite well.  Also with the exchange rate right now it is a great time for us to shop in London.  We also had a great room at our hotel.  It was nice that the hotel staff recognized us and the woman that cleaned our room was great to Will and gave us extra washcloths for him.  We also bought Will some new books and foam letters!  He had fun playing with and eating them.  Chad has to work a lot while we're in town, but Will and I were able to enjoy the some walks throughout the city.  It's crazy to think, we're really in London for a week.

Snowy London

While we were in London we witnessed history.  The most snow in 2 decades.  Monday morning we woke up to 10cm in the city and 30cm in the hills.  It was crazy! Chad tried to take the train to work and the Underground and bus system were shut down.  Most of the London airports were closing or just had one runway open.   It seemed like we didn’t leave Wisconsin. The news lead story was the snow and the sites in the city were beautiful.  I guess we’re going to stay in today and swim.

This is a picture of the Tower of London covered in snow!

Will Loves to Swim!

Because the weather made the city shut down and because Will loves the pool we went swimming several times. The hotel pool is quite nice because it is a part of a health club.  He was pretty fun in the water and tried eating the kick board.  He also chased his rubber duckie and ended up putting his head in the water and was just so excited he got his duck that he didn't even notice water was all over his face. :)  He is a great little kicker and pat the water to splash. What are we teaching him?

Tour of Windsor, Stonehenge, and Bath

We made the most of our Saturday and went on an 11 hour bus tour to see some of famous sites outside of the city.  We spent almost 5 hours total on the bus and Will was great. He ate his lunch and dinner, slept, and smiled at the girls in the seats behind us.  There was a delegation of students studying in London from Madison on the bus as well.  Small world!

We enjoyed seeing these three major sites and can say we've been there.  We were impressed with the size of the Queen's pad and age of Stonehenge.  The stones range in weight from 9 to 90 tons and they were moved prior to the invention of the wheel over 200 miles.

Random fact of the day...Little Will filled his diaper 5 times that day! Thank goodness we didn't have to go more than 10 minutes with the smell on the bus.

Will’s Eyes

It is quite odd how many people have told us lately that Will has beautiful eyes.  I swear, almost every day someone tells us, mostly women really. While we were in the tube someone told me, our cleaning lady at the hotel, a woman at the pool, the guy checking us out at a store.  I think he's my little Paul Newman. :)

THANK YOU KELSEY & SARA!
I keep forgetting to comment on Will's favorite (and our favorite, because he loves it so much) toy.  Kelsey and Sara got Will a small toy before I left Marquette. This Baby Einstein toy looks like a little radio thing that lights up and plays music.  It happens to be the best toy ever invented for our travels.  We actually have two and one we keep in his diaper bag and pull out on planes, trains, restaurants, or in public places because he loves it and can go from crying to excited by seeing it come out of the bag.  It is a god-sent and we don't leave home without it.
