Leisure in Germany

Relaxing on Sunday
We've learned that Sundays are mean for relaxing and family.  What does this mean...no stores are open so buy your groceries or anything else before Sunday.  We enjoyed our Sunday and went downtown Koln to walk around a flea market on the Rhein and enjoy the weather a bit.
The flea market was a ton of shops with a lot of old stuff. It was a bad garage sale really. A few coffee shops and bakeries were open so bought some bread for dinner. We also had a friend recommend this diner next to the dom for brunch, so we gave it a try and had a great apple crepe some coffee & hot chocolate. It was really good and not too expensive!   I think we are going to enjoy this relaxing Sunday thing as long as we don't get bored and plan groceries ahead of time.

The Dom
The Dom, which is just a block away from Chad's office, was packed with people. It is a beautiful church and a landmark in Koln. Chad has gone in, but we're waiting to take a tour when we have visitors.  A little German history: The Dom was spared from WWII bombs because it was used as a landmark for fighter pilots.  There were a lot of artist painting on the sidewalks and people that were dressed up and looked like statues and scared people when they walked by as well. This amused Chad!

Our Neighborhood!
We also love our neighborhood! We are very fortunate because we only looked at 3 flats when we came in January.  Thankfully this one was open and our landlord was willing to hold it a month for us. Our neighborhood has some beautiful homes (when you can see through the gates and shrubs) and very nice cars. I admire the flowers that are starting to bloom and Chad enjoys the expensive cars that are parked in the driveways and on the streets.
