Sunny Scotland and back!

Edinburgh, Scotland
We spent last weekend in Edinburgh, Scotland. We left Friday and returned on Saturday evening.  It was a quick weekend and we spent a lot of time walking around enjoying the sun.  We stayed at the most beautiful, old (but renovated) hotel.  There were large wood staircases and stained glass windows.   Our room had 12 foot ceilings and a chandelier that Will thought was the coolest thing in the world.  We put him on the bed and he would just look at it and giggle.  We also had a great view from our bedroom and bathroom of Edinburgh Castle.

When we arrived we walked around on Princes Street and just looked at the sites around the old city center.  Saturday, after breakfast we walked up Princes Street and also the Royal Mile and shopped a bit (although really Will made out with books in English).

We also went and toured Edinburgh Castle. Next time we will purchase our tickets on-line in advance because we waited almost 45 minutes in a line just to get them.  It was amazing all the individual museums in the different buildings of the castle and the views from the top were incredible. Chad commented on the lengthy history of Scotland  and all of the wars that they have participated in over time.  The exhibits included viewing the Scottish crown jewels, an exhibit on Prisoners of War in the Castle, Scottish  Royalty, a War Memorial, and Scottish heritage (to name a few). This old castle was also pretty well renovated with ramps and elevators, we notice this with our pusher.  We need to go back to Scotland and see the countryside.

We also were able to see lots of men in kilts and heard several men playing bagpipes.  These men looked pretty tough and had to be to have their legs exposed on this cold, windy day. The pride of their heritage is amazing.

On Saturday, Scotland played South Africa in Rugby and lost. However, in lots of shops and pubs you would see the flags of both Scotland and South Africa flying.  They seem to be a bit friendlier toward the competition.

Our Hotel Return
On Sunday we arrived back to the Heathrow and got our one piece of luggage off the belt.  It was almost the last piece and we waited for a bit watching others from our flight leave the airport.  We got on the tube and knew the way back to hotel as we had done the same route last week.  Well, nothing is ever as easy as it seems.  It ended up that both of the lines (Circle & District) that went to the tube stop by our hotel were closed for repairs on Sunday. We ended up getting off the tube and taking a cab.

It just so happened that in the processes we found the PWC London Office!  I thought it was a bit ironic as Chad had asked me several times if I had found the office during all of my walks around the city.  Had the lines been open we never would have found the office and the 5 Starbucks within a block!

Will's Cup
Will hit another milestone last week.  I bought him a sippy cup and a few large cookies for him to try.  He would just look at us and move his lips when he saw us eat so I wanted to see if he could have something of his own (and I wouldn't feel guilty).   So the cup says for 6 months, but Will has got it down and can hold it by himself  (if it isn't too full).

He was also a great traveler again!  He is a pro at these hour long flights and we're waiting to see what the flight home at Christmas time will bring.  I've have also had several people comment on him being a "gorgeous" and "beautiful" baby again.   We'll be in the tube or the store and people will just come up and talk to him and he'll smile.  We are pretty lucky!

One more week here in London and then back to Germany!  Oh the time has gone quickly!
