Trip to the Netherlands

Keukenholf Gardens in the Netherlands

This weekend we drove about 30 minutes outside of Amsterdam to the Keukenholf Gardens in the Netherlands.  I heard about this place last year when Matt Lauer was there for his "Where in the World" tour.  This was the first weekend the Gardens were open and the are only open 8 weeks of the year.  It was beautiful on TV and I have been getting tulips at the store so thought it would be worth the drive.  Little did we know that the drive there would be extended by about an hour because of traffic to about 4 hours.

Once we arrived I was excited to see the flowers growing and color.  Well, the flowers indoors were beautiful and there were a few flowers growing outside, but most of the 7 million bulbs were just about 10 centimeters above the ground and the color will look beautiful in about 4 weeks. :)  Did I  mention that Matt does his tour at the end of April/early May???  

We made the most of the visit and walked around the large grounds, toured a windmill, visited the petting zoo and stopped a McDonalds.   It was a beautiful place and I would recommend others going, except not opening weekend.

Will was very good during our trip! He was a trooper being carried around.

Visit from Sandy!

We also had a visitor during the weekend. My aunt Sandy came and was so kind to join us on our trip to the Netherlands. She had business in Europe and was able to meet up with us in Koln.  We had a great time with her visiting and Will really enjoyed having the company in the back seat.  He also enjoyed playing with someone other than Mom and Dad.

Tom Tom Updates

Let me start by saying, "Yes, Dad I have updated the Tom Tom."  On our way leaving the Amsterdam the gas light was on and we needed to stop.  I typed in the Tom Tom to help us locate a gas station and found one not far off the freeway.  We were all surprised when the gas station that I selected was actually closed.  Not closed for the day but closed permanently.  Oh boy!  At least we went early enough that we were able to find another station based on the signs on the road.
