The weekend of April 24th-26th we drove about 5 hours to the outskirts of Paris, France to spend a weekend at Euro Disney. Chad's work colleague invited us to join their family for the weekend and so we decided to take the boys. Will is still a bit young to enjoy the rides, but he loved walking around the park and seeing the magic of Disneyland. He acted like he didn't have a care in the world and he owned the place.
We stayed a hotel that was near the park and took advantage of the shuttle and breakfast they provided. It was a castle theme at the hotel which Will enjoyed. Will was excited that it offered a pool and bunk beds. Although he couldn't climb to the top. We were also joined by my Aunt Nancy and Cousin Whitney who had a delayed stay in Germany thanks to the volcano in Iceland. The weather was perfect and the boys enjoyed the day.
We were able to take advantage of the "Fast Pass" and get scheduled times to go on the Peter Pan and Buzz Light Year rides. That allowed us to skip the line, which was fabulous with the boys. Will also decided to nap during It's a Small World, but Jack's eyes were priceless as he looked around at all the singing children.
Will's favorite part of the park was area dedicated to the movie "Cars." He could have done without the ride. Chad took Will to get into the line and as I examined the ride closer, it was similar to the "Tea Cups." For those of you that know Chad, this was a huge act of love, taking Will on the ride. When I realized the nature of the ride, it was too late, they were in line and there was no turning back. Both boys survived and Will ran quickly over to the life size Lightening McQueen and Mater. :) Seriously, seeing them was as good as Christmas. Unfortunately, they were behind a fence, so no hugs.
That evening we splurged and went to Cafe Disney in the Disney Village. Our friends made a reservation for a special dinner where the characters walk around and visit with the kids. Little did we realize that this was probably the highlight of Will's year! Yes that is right, he wasn't scared but rather would wave until they came over (Chad made him sit in his chair as hard as that was). He gave Mickey lots of hugs and Mickey spent almost 5 minutes with him. He tried hard to explain something to Tigger. He also tried to feed Pluto his fries. And he made the over priced pizza and salad we ordered worth every single penny!
Jack was a trooper throughout the day. He rode in the pusher to stay out of the sun and went on several rides too. He giggled and looked around. We are very lucky to have such a happy baby! At dinner he got a bit fussy, but then I laid him down and that was all he wanted. There are definitely times he doesn't want to be held anymore.
We had a great weekend and were glad to take advantage of being so close to this park. It was a magical weekend for Will and Jack was as good as always.
The park itself is very similar to Disneyland in California. You could spend days there and not see or do everything. We knew that Will was a bit small and decided only to go for one day. That was perfect and in fact both boys slept very well on Saturday night!
Some pictures from the Weekend at Disney!
