Yes, the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland has effected us in Germany! Chad was working in Bratislava, Slovakia last week and his flight Friday evening was cancelled. After waiting in line for almost 2 hours, he finally got his train ticket back to Cologne for Saturday. He took a 10 hour train ride on Saturday to get back to Cologne and was tired. The trains were full and ran out of food so he was ready to be home.
We also were all going to spend a week in Bratislava, Slovakia and then travel to Prague for the second half of the week, this too is now cancelled. We wouldn't want to be stuck somewhere with the boys, so we'll have to wait.
We also have my aunt and cousin visiting us from Nebraska and they are going to be staying with us about a week longer. They had a flight to the US today but have been able to rebook for next Monday.
We're all safe and sound at home and hoping that Chad won't have to travel for a few weeks when things are back up and running. This will definitely be a point in European history we can say we lived through, closed airports and packed train stations.
