Budapest, Hungary

From November 11th-13th, Chad and I went to Budapest for a quick 5th Anniversary trip.  We left the boys with my parents who were more than helpful when they were visiting!  Will and Jack were excited to see them and it was nice to spend our first night without the boys. Sightseeing is so different without little ones.  It was so much easier to get onto planes, in taxis, and relax in a hotel room.

We enjoyed Budapest and since we only had a short time there did a hop on hop off tour and short river cruise.  The weather was sunny and cloudy and changed every 15 minutes.  The city is old and beautiful and the Parliament Building and Castle district were impressive sites.  We also saw a building that was left after WW2 so you can see the damage from the gun fire.  The people of Hungary still remember this happening.

We also had some great Hungarian Goulash Soup.  It is always interesting visiting the old communist countries and meeting the people who are trying to rebuild.  I also enjoyed talking to a student from Russia who had come to study in Budapest.  The people we meet on our travels seem to be the most memorable and help us learn about the city and culture.

Chad and I keep reflecting on the last 5 years and all we have done and seen. We have so much to be thankful for and would have never guessed all that would have happened.  We'll just have to see what the next 5 years have in store!  It is also hard to believe that Chad has only spent our 1st anniversary in the US.  We'll see if that trend continues as my travel list still grows and there are so many places we want to return to some day.
