Good Luck on Finals!

I know it's finals weeks for many (Phil keep studying :) so I just wanted to say good luck. I have to update some pictures and then I'll get them posted.  

Baking Success Story of the Week!

On Friday, I managed to make Apple Muffins or Apfel Muffins!  I made them from a box so don't be too impressed, but reading the directions and making sure I added the correct measurements and ingredients is also important! Our little microwave/oven/grill is working out well.  The goal for next week is to make cookies...finding the ingredients will be the challenge.

Sunny Weekend!

We're doing well and had a nice weekend with a lot of sunshine. It gets warm upstairs because it stays light until 9:30pm. We were able to go for a couple of walks and really don't use the car that much on the weekends. We walked to the Rhein where there is a very busy biking/walking path. There are also some great trails near our house. We live in a beautiful and green area.  I'll include some pictures of some of the colorful trees around our neighborhood in a slideshow. 

Red Hair!

I talked to Ms. Behmer's 4th graders this week and told them about the "red" hair I've seen everywhere. Well wouldn't you know it as we walked through the park I was able to snap this picture so you can appreciate the color red that I was referring to as "not the most natural red color."

Travel Travel Travel

We also are starting to put together our list of places to travel and visit. Let me know if you have any recommendations for us and we'll make sure it makes the list.  Time is going quickly and I'm a planner so we need to figure out when we can fit it long trips and shorter weekend trips.  We'll be home before we know it.

Banking and Bill Paying

I also went to the bank last week and learned how to pay our bills! Everything is electronic here and you pay bills by EFT.  This is a positive thing about Germany, it is immediate and you have documentation that it was received.  However, there are lots of security codes in place to make sure you do it correctly.  Checks are obsolete here!

No Screens on the Windows

With all the flowering trees around our house we've also noticed some bees have found their way into the flat via the open windows.  We've managed to either get them to fly out or flush them in the toilet. 

Still Waiting...

We're also still waiting for phone and internet...we were warned that it would take awhile (thanks Mary & Justin) but who really thought it would be over a month?
