Memorial Day...or Internet Day in Germany!

Happy Memorial Day!
We had a wonderful surprise when we woke up this morning...our internet works! They flipped the magic switch this morning and it worked. We're now on-line and can use the internet in our flat. What a wonderful day, that maybe Chad doesn't have off but seriously internet access is much better.

Also, just as Americans are traveling less, our German neighbor, that we ran into yesterday, is taking a 4 week holiday to the US in a few weeks. They are visiting California, Arizona, and Hawaii. Not bad...the Euro is doing them good.

Sunday we found a great Park & the hospital
Yesterday we drove around Koln to the hospital using the GPS. It's a good thing because there is some road construction and some closures that delayed the tip a little. On our way back we stopped by one of the public, city parks.  It was beautiful with large rose bushes, people grilling, a large pond with paddle boats. It was a beautiful day just to walk around.

Thank you Bob  & Brenda
Thanks to the cream of tarter and baking soda that Bob brought from the US, I was able to bake sugar cookies last week!  It was so nice to see a familiar face from home and get some recommended country tunes to download. The neighbors, landlord, and Chad enjoyed the rewards of day of baking! Now imagine baking cookies in an oven the size of a microwave only 6 a a time.  It took some time but it was the highlight of the week!

Out late...
Friday we had dinner with Claudia & Hugo, our neighbors. They made a great meal and it was a late night. We were at their flat until 2 am. I was incredibly tired and couldn't keep my eyes open.  It was nice to talk with with them and we learned a lot about their transition from Mexico City to Koln. We are very lucky that they are close by and so willing and eager to help us in our transition.  They also recommended this website www.surfthechannel.com where we can view US TV shows. We also used the weekend catching up on Brothers & Sisters.
