Happy E-mail Today! No our phone and internet isn't installed yet or even scheduled to be installed yet, BUT we received a message today that our stuff reach the port and customs on Friday! We are going to have them deliver everything on Wednesday! We'll spend the few days before we leave for London unpacking and making the flat seem more like home.
Our nice Neighbors!
We've also met our neighbors (their apartment is on the opposite side of the house). Claudia and Hugo are from Mexico City, Mexico, arrived in Koln in August and will be staying for about 5 years. Claudia works for Bayer and they brought her here. Hugo is a photographer and is learning German so he can find a job.
They are so kind and gave us a ton of hugs! They think we look so young and have said they want to help us with anything! Hugo also brought over a box of chocolate which Chad and I realized that we liked the same ones, bummer. :) Again, we feel very fortunate to meet such nice people who are helping us transition.
Our nice Landlord!
Just when we thought our landlord couldn't be any better, he did another nice thing for us that was really not necessary. We had a small TV in our flat when we arrived.
He pays for the basic cable for all of us so there are 2 stations (BBC & CNN) in English that we can understand. Although, I hear Sesame Street will help me learn German. Well, the first time we turned the TV on there was a spark and a burning smell. We told Dr. Hossmann just because we didn't want him to think we broke the TV. We told him not to worry about a new TV because we won't use it that often. Well, guess what, when we arrived home one evening there was this new flat screen TV outside our flat door! Fun Picture from Meg & Matt!
Before we left we were able to get together with some Milwaukee friends. Here is a cute pic of little Tommy Eckert being influenced by Chad.
